Visit a Public Library - Stage 1

Hello, Visitor! In addition to using your school library, we encourage you to make use of our community public libraries, as well! This challenge encourages you to visit a public library. To complete this quest, you will have 2 options: Option A involves visiting a public library in person while Open B provides a virtual option in case transportation is an issue.

OPTION A (Visit a public library in person):

  1. Simply visit a public library in person and take a photo while there. NOTE: You may want to try to get a library card if you do not already have one. You may also want to plan your visit to coincide with a program that may be happening. It also counts if you want to visit a college library!
  2. Need help finding a library to visit? Here are lists of locations for San Diego County Library and San Diego Public Library. There are, of course, many other systems in our county and beyond. If you’re traveling, it can be fun to visit libraries all over – people refer to this as “library tourism.”
  3. To complete this quest, upload your library photo below under “Add a File” and click Complete.

OPTION B (Virtually visit a public library):

  1. Visit a public (or college) library’s website. For instance, here are links to the websites for San Diego County Library and San Diego Public Library.
  2. Take some time to browse through the website. Try to locate: 1) the way to search the catalog, 2) a listing of library locations/hours, 3) how to get a library card, 4) information about their summer reading program.
  3. Find a list of upcoming events/programs that are taking place at a branch near you that are aimed at teens. Take a screenshot of the events that you find.
  4. To complete this quest, take your screenshot of event, upload it below under “Add a File” and click Complete.
