This quest is going to require research!

But wait you say . . . Isn’t research something for English or History class?

No!  Research isn’t just for school.  It isn’t just a paper.

Research is a process for investigation and discovery.

Now let’s talk about how to do research.  For academic subjects it is often in journals or academic books, but for most things in life . . .

Google it!

But are you good at Google?  How does one use it well.  Watch these videos on keyword searching to see how to use it better.

Now that you know some tips on how to do a search, let’s do some research.

Your goal is to find 10 tips for photographic composition.

Should you type the entire phrase “10 tips for photographic composition” into Google? NO! Don’t do that.

Use keywords to get better results in your searches!

Let’s do these first ones together.  How about “photographic composition”?  That might be a good place to start.

You know what’s better? “Photo composition” Those keywords will give you the sites that contain the word photo or photographic.

What else could we search?  Watch this video to find out.

Now let’s do research your 10 tips.  You can work with a partner on this part.

  1. Create a copy of this Google Doc.  I’ve already done the first two for you.  Please include these in your final presentation of your pictures.
  2. Add a tip to the document.
  3. Copy and paste a quote that describes the tip.  You will need this later.
  4. Copy the web address where you found the tip.
  5. Copy a second address that has the same tip as validation of the first tip.
  6. Repeat steps 2-5 until you have 10 tips total (including the two I added).

Copy and paste your 10 tips–with the quotes and links–into a blog post.
